DevOps Engineer
About Us
Ticket Tailor is committed to empowering a diverse range of event creators through simple and affordable ticketing. But that’s not all – we’re also on a mission to make sure that every single ticket sold has a positive impact on all stakeholders – our team, our planet and the communities we operate in. We call this "Growth on Purpose" and are proud to be a certified B Corp, officially putting business for good at the centre of everything we do.
Last year, over 10 million orders were placed through the Ticket Tailor platform, for all types of events from art installations to water parks. We have a world-class NPS score, and pride ourselves in building a simple platform built with a customer-first mindset.
We're a fully independent, profitable, and bootstrapped company meaning we don’t have to answer to anyone except ourselves and our customers, allowing us to scale the company sustainably and with soul.
About The Role
We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our growing technology team. In this role, you’ll support the scaling of our platform to ensure it can handle millions more users, while enhancing the performance and reliability of our systems.
You’ll collaborate closely with our Product squads, ensuring that scalability, security, and reliability are integrated into everything we build. You’ll be instrumental in creating solutions that enhance the health and efficiency of our services, ensuring we’re always delivering the best experience to our customers. We value a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone’s ideas are heard, so you’ll be encouraged to contribute, grow, and continuously seek ways to improve how we work together.
You’ll work closely with our Technology and Product teams to ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and running smoothly as we grow. You’ll also play a key role in building out our infrastructure tools and automations, making sure our platform is reliable and efficient for both our technical teams and users. By creating streamlined processes and scalable solutions, you’ll help ensure that our teams can focus on delivering the best possible experience without worrying about operational challenges.
We’re a small, collaborative team, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to shape the direction of our infrastructure and security within the company. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the driving force behind a rapidly growing platform used by 30k event organisers all over the world. We’re a hybrid-remote team, working from our Hackney office on Mondays and Wednesdays.
What you’ll be doing in the role
Support scaling our platform to ensure it can handle millions more users as we grow, by optimising performance, fine-tuning infrastructure, and collaborating with teams to make sure our systems are always ready for what’s next.
Maintain a security-first mindset, ensuring that security best practices are integrated into everything you do, from system design to deployment, and proactively identifying and mitigating potential vulnerabilities in our application.
Improve the performance and responsiveness of our core user flows, while also boosting the reliability of our systems and applications, ensuring dependable experience for users.
Work closely with Product squads to help shape system design and guide projects from start to finish, ensuring operational needs like scalability, reliability, and security are baked in from the beginning.
Build and automate tools to monitor and improve the health of our services—focusing on things like availability, performance, and efficiency—so that we can keep delivering great experiences to our users as we grow.
Help with incident response and postmortems, working together with teams—not just to fix problems quickly, but also figure out how we can prevent them from happening again in the future.
Continuously look for ways to improve our systems and processes, advocating for changes that make things faster, more reliable, and more secure for everyone. Plus, you’ll get to experiment with AI tools to streamline how we do our work and boost efficiency across the board - we’re always trialling new products and currently using ChatGPT, Canvas and Copilot.
This role will suit you if…
🔧 You love finding pragmatic solutions to complex problems and enjoy optimising systems to scale as we grow.
👾 You have a proactive mindset, keen on learning new ways of doing things and thrive as a self-starter.
🗒️ You have a strong ability to prioritise tasks and focus on the most impactful work.
🤝 You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with both technical and non-technical teams to ensure the success of projects.
⚙️ You have a passion for automation, always looking for ways to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
📈 You’re excited about scaling platforms, making sure infrastructure is reliable, secure, and able to handle millions of users.
🎢 You take ownership of your work, from design to deployment, and are always thinking about how to improve system reliability and performance.
🚨 You stay calm under pressure, handling incident responses with a thoughtful, problem-solving approach, and learning from each experience to prevent future issues.
🔍 You love learning and growing, always staying curious and up-to-date with the latest tools and practices in the Ops and DevOps world.
