We are looking for a Tech Lead to bring quality, pragmatism, and empathy to guiding a product team focused on maintaining our ticketing platform and delivering powerful features to our users. This role involves managing three direct reports - helping them grow and succeed.
Ticket Tailor supports over 30k event organisers around the world; this means it is critical we drive for simplicity, ease of use and consistency across all our products. With a small engineering team and a purposeful roadmap, this is a great opportunity to be a key part of a rapidly growing company and platform.
Please note this a Hybrid position, 2 days from our office in London Fields and 3 days from home.
About Us
At Ticket Tailor, our mission is to empower a diverse range of event creators by making it easy and affordable to sell tickets online. We believe in doing business for the good of society and the environment, by growing better not just bigger. 💻💛
Last year, over 10 million orders were placed through the Ticket Tailor platform, for all types of events from art installations to water parks. We have a world-class NPS score, and pride ourselves in building a simple platform built with a customer-first mindset. 🍜🎅
We love to work with inclusive and supportive people who share our belief that a happy workplace = happy customers.
We're a fully independent, profitable, and bootstrapped company meaning we don’t have to answer to anyone except ourselves and our customers, allowing us to scale the company sustainably and with soul. This allows us to grow on purpose – with purpose - so that every event ticket sold with Ticket Tailor can have a positive impact.
We're carbon neutral (having offset our entire history of emissions), donate to climate causes for every ticket sold, and most recently became a certified B Corp, joining a global community of businesses putting people and the planet first. 🌍🌳
Diversity & Inclusion
At Ticket Tailor, we’re building a small but mighty team to help us deliver big differences to people, the planet & society. We’re passionate about creating a diverse and inclusive environment where people can thrive, be inspired, and feel comfortable to be themselves.
As a Certified B-Corp, we lead from the front, and with purpose, to disrupt the events & ticketing industry while ensuring we accommodate and celebrate people of all backgrounds along the way.
We believe that diverse teams enable us to have different perspectives and points of view, which in return allows us to question the norm, support our customers, and adapt our decision-making.
About The Role:
As a Tech lead your role is split between ensuring quality within your squad, hands-on development and planning, and managing direct reports. You’ll work closely with Product to understand and solve problems for our users. You’ll seek to deliver simple, secure solutions across all parts of our technology stack, considering the long-term architectural impact of your solutions. You’ll ensure the why of what we are building is important and shared with the team. You’ll support and grow engineers on your team.
We place a strong emphasis on ownership - we each own the tasks we deliver - from understanding the problem, to designing small blocks of long term value, to the quality of the solution delivered. We test all new features and deploy multiple times a day.
Day to day, you'll be responsible for:
👁️ Leading a product squad focused on maintaining and evolving our Ticketing Platform
🌵 Working closely with Product to design solutions and ensure the squad is prioritising its work for maximum impact
🌟 Championing quality across our platform
🦻 Managing and growing three direct reports
🦾 Input into the wider technology decision-making process while sharing successes with the company
Our Stack:
🦿 PHP is our primary language, and we use Laminas and Mezzio frameworks
🐦⬛ Apache & Varnish for our Web Servers & Caching
📊 RDS MySQL for data management
☁️ CloudFormation on AWS for our instance management
🌥️ Cloudflare for CDN, queueing and workers
🌪️ jQuery for Javascript
🌊 Github and Github Actions for source control and CI
This role will suit you if…
🐝 You are empathetic and seek to continually improve your team and reports
🦎 You favour pragmatic, user-centric solutions over perfection or best practise
👾 You strive for simplicity in your solutions and like to incrementally deliver small-pieces of long term value
🪼 You work from first-principles and design-first over copy-and-paste programming
🦅 You continually seek to maximise your impact in the work you deliver and how you manage your time
🦄 You are passionate about improving the quality of your team at all stages of development
🦋 You can own your team’s roadmap and consider multiple stakeholders in your work
🐌 You see value in many types of testing, and want to work with Trunk Based Development, continually releasing small pieces of long term value to the platform
🐯 You’re equally happy collaborating with others and working on your own to solve deep complex problems in code
🔐 You value security, adopt a security mindset as you work, and ensure your squad follows secure practices
🗣️ You enjoy constantly learning and have a growth mindset
👀 You use or are curious about using AI to enhance your productivity and quality
The Process:
An initial Screening Call (30 minutes) ☎️
