We’re striving to build a diverse team and welcome applicants from all backgrounds to apply. We believe that unique differences are what makes a strong team and are actively committed to building an inclusive work environment. So, if you're passionate and ready to contribute, we'd love to hear from you!
We are looking for a senior API developer to join our team and take ownership of our API and integration products, bringing a strategic development approach.
Ticket Tailor is packed full of useful features and supports over 30k event organisers around the world; this means it is critical we drive for simplicity, ease of use and consistency across all our products, and unlock its power outside of the core web platform, via our APIs and integrations. With a small engineering team and a purposeful roadmap, this is a great opportunity to be a key driving factor behind a rapidly growing platform.
Please note this a Hybrid position, 2 days from our office in London Fields and 3 days from home.
About Us
At Ticket Tailor, our mission is to empower a diverse range of event creators by making it easy and affordable to sell tickets online. We believe in doing business for the good of society and the environment, by growing better not just bigger. 💻💛
Last year, over 10 million orders were placed through the Ticket Tailor platform, for all types of events from art installations to water parks. We have a world-class NPS score, and pride ourselves in building a simple platform built with a customer-first mindset.
We love to work with inclusive and supportive people who share our belief that a happy workplace = happy customers.
We're a fully independent, profitable, and bootstrapped company meaning we don’t have to answer to anyone except ourselves and our customers, allowing us to scale the company sustainably and with soul. This allows us to grow on purpose – with purpose - so that every event ticket sold with Ticket Tailor can have a positive impact.
We're carbon neutral (having offset our entire history of emissions), donate to climate causes for every ticket sold, and most recently became a certified B Corp, joining a global community of businesses putting people and the planet first. 🌍🌳
Diversity & Inclusion
At Ticket Tailor, we’re building a small but mighty team to help us deliver big differences to people, the planet & society. We’re passionate about creating a diverse and inclusive environment where people can thrive, be inspired, and feel comfortable to be themselves.
As a Certified B-Corp, we lead from the front, and with purpose, to disrupt the events & ticketing industry while ensuring we accommodate and celebrate people of all backgrounds along the way.
We believe that diverse teams enable us to have different perspectives and points of view, which in return allows us to question the norm, support our customers, and adapt our plans for the future.
About The Role:
Our goal is for Ticket Tailor to be the primary ticket source for event organisers to power their business across a wide set of platforms. As the first full-time API Developer you’ll have the opportunity to own the direction and roadmap of our APIs and integrations as we scale the platform, ensuring they are secure, robust, scalable and usable by many types of users and automations. You’ll be the authority on a growing number of core integrations with third party platforms and seek to grow and expand the impact of our APIs.
Our current API powers our check-in app that handles admissions for over 8 million tickets annually, as well as a growing number of integrations and automations relied on by Event Organisers. We’ve also built integrations with Zapier, Cyclr, Mailchimp, LinkedIn, and ticketing-specific tools to facilitate safe ticket swapping and ticket printing.
Our small team places a strong emphasis on ownership - we each own the tasks we deliver - from understanding the problem, to designing small blocks of long term value, to the quality of the solution delivered. We test all new features and deploy multiple times a day.
Day to day, you'll be responsible for:
👁️ Owning the vision for our APIs ensuring we provide a high developer experience for our users
🌵 Evolving the capabilities and architecture of our APIs in line with business objectives and user needs
🌟 Maintaining the current APIs and integrations
🔐 Evolving the security, robustness, and performance of our APIs and integrations
🦾 Integrating and automating workflows with third parties like sales channels, CRMs, and automation channels
🦎 Increasing the adoption of our API
🦻 Mentoring other developers on the team on API best practices
Our Stack:
🦿 PHP is our primary language, and we use Laminas and Mezzio frameworks
🐦⬛ Apache & Varnish for our Web Servers & Caching
📊 RDS MySQL for data management
☁️ CloudFormation on AWS for our instance management
🌥️ Cloudflare for CDN, queueing and workers
🌊 Github and Github Actions for source control and CI
This role will suit you if…
🐝 You have a good instinct about the user needs from product feedback and customer conversations.
🦎 You strive for simplicity in your solutions and like to incrementally deliver small-pieces of long-term value.
👾 You work from first-principles and a design-led mindset over copy-and-paste programming.
🪼 You continually seek to maximise your impact in the work you deliver and how you manage your time.
