Head of Platform
About Us
Ticket Tailor is committed to empowering a diverse range of event creators through simple and affordable ticketing. But that’s not all – we’re also on a mission to make sure that every single ticket sold has a positive impact on all stakeholders – our team, our planet and the communities we operate in. We call this "Growth on Purpose" and are proud to be a certified B Corp, officially putting business for good at the centre of everything we do.
Last year, over 10 million orders were placed through the Ticket Tailor platform, for all types of events from art installations to water parks. We have a world-class NPS score, and pride ourselves in building a simple platform built with a customer-first mindset.
We're a fully independent, profitable, and bootstrapped company meaning we don’t have to answer to anyone except ourselves and our customers, allowing us to scale the company sustainably and with soul.
We’re a hybrid team, working from our Hackney office twice a week.
About The Role
We’re looking for a Head of Platform to join our growing technology team. In this role, you’ll lead the scaling of our platform to ensure it can handle millions more users, while enhancing the security, performance and reliability of our systems.
You’ll lead in building out our infrastructure tools and automations, making sure our platform is reliable and efficient for both our technical team and users. By creating streamlined processes and scalable solutions, you’ll help ensure that our teams can focus on delivering the best possible experience without worrying about operational challenges.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of the driving force behind a rapidly growing platform used by over 30k event organisers from all over the world issuing 20 million tickets annually.
This is a hands-on role line managing one report. The role reports to the Director of Tech.
What you’ll be doing in the role
Ensure our platform can scale - so it can handle millions more users as we grow, by optimising performance, fine-tuning infrastructure, and collaborating with teams to make sure our systems are always ready for what’s next
Own our security roadmap - continuously seek to improve our security position through integrating security tooling into our processes, managing our pen test providers, bug bounty programme and educate the team on best practices
Support our compliance effort - currently we are a PCI DSS level 1 service provider
Evolve and modernise our infrastructure - we currently use Cloudformation on bare EC2 servers
Develop good observability of our platform - so we can actively monitor and improve the health of our services, focusing on things like availability, performance, and efficiency to keep delivering great experiences to our users as we grow
Manage and scale our Database - we use RDS MySQL
Own our incident response and postmortems - working together with teams, not just to fix problems quickly, but also figure out how we can prevent them from happening again in the future
Own our github actions CI/CD pipeline - ensuring it's reliable and performant for the team who practice trunk based development and deploy to production multiple times a day
Continuously look for ways to improve and automate our systems and processes - using AI, infrastructure as code and advocating for changes that make things faster, more reliable, and more secure for everyone
Work with product squads and wider teams - you'll play a key-role in company projects to ensure operational needs like scalability, reliability, and security are baked in from the beginning
This role will suit you if…
🔧 You love finding pragmatic solutions to complex problems and enjoy optimising systems to scale as we grow
👾 You have a proactive mindset, keen on learning new ways of doing things and thrive as a self-starter
🗒️ You have a strong ability to prioritise tasks and focus on the most impactful work

⚙️ You have a passion for automation, always looking for ways to streamline processes and improve efficiency
📈 You’re excited about scaling platforms, making sure infrastructure is reliable, secure, and able to handle millions of users

🚨 You stay calm under pressure, handling incident responses with a thoughtful, problem-solving approach, and learning from each experience to prevent future issues
🔍 You love learning and growing, always staying curious and up-to-date with the latest tools and practices in the Ops and DevOps world
🤖 You are excited to use AI tooling to enhance your productivity and quality
